LIAF Abstract Showcase, 2D animation, 2021
Symbols is an experimental hand-drawn animation that explores text, symbols, language, and communication initially commissioned by the London International Animation Festival as part of the opening for the Abstract Showcase.
The project is a series of visual explorations and experiments with text characters, which poses a question: how can textual symbols be understood and communicated when removed from their original linguistic context? It intentionally blurs the boundaries between natural and artificial languages, as well as the interaction between language and visual elements, aiming to challenge the audience's perception of language contexts.
